This week on Aunty Marie we focus the Spotlight on Dr. Carol Nduhiu. She is a mother of three who’s passionate about women’s reproductive health, women’s rights and independence. She believes women drive the world.
What are you passionate about?
Am passionate about women’s health, women’s rights, women’s independence. I am a true and proud feminist and I believe we as women drive the world. Am also passionate about teens. I believe they have so much to offer to the world, if only they were given a chance to talk. I also love it when am able to guide and shape a teenagers life and way of thinking.
What or who inspires you?
My children. Rogers for being so resilient and facing life so bravely despite all the odds. Wanja, for being a true reflection of myself, strong and with quiet boldness. Gitahi, for showing me how unconditional love feels like.
What’s your greatest achievement in life?
Career wise, being a consultant at an early age, taking that step several years ago to pursue a career in obstetrics and gynecology and following my passion. Best decision in my life.
Best advice ever told or you can give?
I have not lead a conventional life. I have not been afraid to follow my heart. So in the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson ‘Do not go where the path may lead, instead go where there is no path and leave a trail’. This is my mantra.
How would you describe your life at MSK?
I have met a team of brave people. People who wake up every day and fight for women. I have learned how to be courageous, empathetic and an advocate for women’s rights.
